About Deloris Bowman

When Deloris Bowman first held a microphone, it wasn t as one of The Marvelettes, nor was it at The Inauguration of President Bill Clinton. It was at the tender age of 4 years old in the Sunbeam Choir at St. John s Baptist Church in Copiague, New York where the Lord first used Deloris to touch the hearts of people.

It is with little surprise that Deloris pursued a professional career in music. Performing R&B, Jazz, and Blues, Deloris dynamic stage presence and three-plus octave vocal range permeated throughout many reputable venues in the United States as well as abroad as she toured Europe, the Caribbean, and parts of Africa. Despite her flourishing music career in the secular arena, Deloris was driven by something greater her love for the Lord and her desire to glorify Him through song. Her Unconditional Love solo CD was released in 2007 and is a personal testimony of God s love. Each song expresses God s unconditional love, His unfailing promises and how they have transformed her life.

Born in Virginia, church played such a powerful role in shaping Deloris infectiously emotional style, that by age 17 years old she had become the director of St. John s Baptist Church s youth choir. For several years Deloris honed her musical talents directing over 75 young adults before she relocated to New York City to pursue a professional career in music. With a pioneering spirit, Deloris creative reach has expanded to becoming a songwriter, recording artist and actress, having trained with Nathan George & The National Black Theatre in acting, Frank Hatchet in Jazz Dance, and Joe Williams vocally.

Deloris performing credits include: The legendary female Motown group, The Marvelettes; The Inauguration of President Bill Clinton and Mayor Bill Bradley's Presidential Campaign in New York City; and the late Peter Jennings Memorial Service at Carnegie Hall with the Gates of Praise Choir. Her provocative voice has been heard at renowned establishments including The Village Gate, The Copacabana and Sweetwaters. Deloris has also performed at four-star hotels such as the New York Hilton, the Sheraton, and the Marriott.

Deloris latest CD project involvement debuted in March 2013. Released by Sony Records RCA Inspiration, The Greater Allen Cathedral s Mass Choir, of which Deloris is a member, delivered their second CD. Reverend Floyd Flake presents The Worship Experience features a blend of traditional and contemporary spiritually infectious songs. "I am honored to be selected as one of the lead vocalists on this project," says Deloris, who is leading the Walter Hawkins classic, "Jesus Christ Is the Way."

Deloris musicality is inclusive of not only evangelizing in song, but also creating lyrics that express everything God has done in her life to encourage and inspire others. The songwriting/recording credits on her Unconditional Love CD include: "Lord, You Promised," "Goodness and Mercy," "No Greater Love, " and "Hold On." Other songwriting/recording credits include: "Stop Pretending You Love Me," "He Loves Me Right," "Every Once in A While," "Late in the Evening," and "All the Woman You Need," which was selected to be played at the ASCAP Music Workshop.

As musical and acting talents are often intertwined, Deloris has performed in Off-Broadway Musicals, namely, "Mama I Want to Sing" and "Sweet Daddy and Amazing Grace." Currently, Deloris plays the role of "Grandma Josie" in the Christian Comedy, "The Wilsons Live." The song, "Hallelu Yah" from her Unconditional Love CD is also featured in the play.
